king of the road......

Hi.

In a couple of days time, we're going to head out on a trip that's going to see us spend the next few months travelling around the world. Between now and the end of September 2010, we will be passing through Austria (no kangaroos), Hong Kong, Australia (kangaroos), New Zealand, San Francisco, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Egypt, Jordan, the Glastonbury Festival, the Canadian Rockies, the Trent Bridge test.... and perhaps a few more places that we haven't even thought of yet.

Why now? Well, whilst it's true that no one ever knows what's around the corner and that no one ever went to their deathbed wishing that they'd spent more time at work.... unfortunately we do have a damn good excuse. After developing the initial symptoms in the summer of 2005 (when I was training for the London Triathlon), I was finally diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in March 2009. In spite of what lots of people seem to think, this isn't a death sentence, but it is an incurable, progressive neurological disease. I'm still fit enough to do things like run a half marathon, and I may remain that fit for many years to come.... but it's a bit of a wakeup call to stop putting things off and to go and do some fun stuff now.

...so we're going to do some fun stuff now.

The idea of this blog is to keep our friends at home up to date with where we are and what we're doing. I'm not going to deliberately try to make you sick with jealousy, but if you have anything to say, then please do leave us a comment.
